Editorial information
Guides are written from primary consumer sources, dated, and linked to their supporting material. We distinguish correcting inaccurate reporting from trying to erase accurate, current information.
Provider listings
Organizations submit documents for administrator review. We report document-review status without claiming government endorsement, legal compliance, or guaranteed outcomes.
Corrections
Material corrections should be made promptly and the reviewed date updated.
Provider verification standard
A “Credit Repair Choices Verified” provider has passed a documented review of the materials it submitted. Verification is valid for no more than 12 months and ends sooner when a relied-upon document expires.
What we review
- Business identity, formation, contact information, and website.
- The federal consumer disclosure required by the Credit Repair Organizations Act.
- The written service agreement, cancellation notice, and cancellation instructions.
- State registrations, licenses, surety bonds, contract or disclosure approvals, exemptions, and counsel memoranda that apply to the states served.
- Whether the public website and submitted materials make prohibited guarantees or appear inconsistent with the documents reviewed.
What verification does not mean
Verification is not a government license, legal opinion, endorsement, guarantee of future compliance, guarantee of results, or substitute for a consumer’s own due diligence. Providers can be suspended or removed when evidence expires, material information changes, or credible compliance concerns arise.
